GATE COLLECTIONS FOR MEMBERS IN NEED

Over the past few years the Union’s Executive Board has been dealing with the difficult issue of sponsoring gate collections for our members in need.  The Executive Board (which also acts as the Union’s good will committee) feels that it has come up with a good solution to make sure that all members that are in difficult circumstances are allowed the same equal opportunity of help.

The Executive Board has decided that twice a year we will sponsor a gate collection for any member(s) who has been out of work for five months or more due to a non work injury or illness and the monies collected will be distributed equally among our members who meet this criteria.

We feel that this will answer the various controversies regarding gate collections and still help our members who have been hit the hardest.

The Union will sponsor a gate collection on both November 20th and 21th to insure that all shifts have an opportunity to give and we hope that you give generously. The Union will also sponsor another collection in May of 2010.
